How to Ship a Helicopter on a Hapag-Lloyd Container Vessel

How does it work with securing the helicopter onto the container?
“The end walls of the flatrack were collapsed to create a platform. Then the workers placed bedding beams in athwart direction on the platform (see picture 3) because the helicopter skits are wider than the width of the platform. The helicopter landed directly on this bedding and was secured and the rotors dismantled (Picture 5).”
Where will the helicopter be placed on the vessel to prevent damage?
“The helicopter was loaded in center position under deck….the most safe place for this sensitive cargo on board (see last photo). The cargo hold under deck has only the length of a 40’ container. Most of the time platforms are used for over length cargo and must be loaded therefore on deck. We have here no over length, but we avoid loading platforms under deck due to a higher center of gravity compared to a flatrack with upright end walls. Only in a very few situations, on special request and only if POL and POD are accepting an under deck loading/discharging of a platform, we plan it like this.”
