Silvasti Transported Heavy Transformers to Ukraine to Help Rebuild the Energy Infrastructure

In December 2022, Transport Company Ville Silvasti carried out a very special transport operation, which has been confidential until now.

The project was to transport three 176-tonne transformers from Rzeszow in Poland to Ukraine. Transportations were carried out by Silvasti’s Finnish drivers with the company’s own fleet. The transport fleet used was a 4-axle tractor, a 16-axle modular trailer and a 4-axle pusher truck. The whole combination was 45 metres long and weighed 280 tonnes.

Transports were carried out by the highest safety measures and they play an important role in supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine’s partially destroyed energy system.

At the moment, ADA (Adana Airport), GZT (Gaziantep Airport), DIY (Diyarbakır Airport) are fully operational for relief efforts. Also, Turkish Airforce and Turkish CAA declared clear fly zone for relief flights through Turkish Aerospace. QAS Charter can handle wide body freighters as AN-124 / B747F / B777F / A330F / B767F at ADA and GZT Airports. Also, they can handle ramp loading a/c’s such as AN-124, IL-76, AN-12 at all three ADA, DIY, GZT Airports.

QAS Charter would like to advise that they have AN-124, B747-200/400F, B777-200F, IL-76 and AN-12 availability form Gulf, CIS, China, Indian Subcontinent and Europe.

Silvasti Transported a Scrubber from Savonlinna to the Port of Hamina

The distance was almost 250km in total. Transport was carried out with a 20-axle modular trailer and total dimensions were 40m * 5.6m * 7m and the total weight of up to 250 tons.

The transport started from Savonlinna on Monday at 12 o’clock and finally arrived to the destination on Tuesday at 23 o’clock.

A pusher truck accompanied the transport throughout the journey and was used whenever necessary. Road maintenance had to be requested for almost every town passed due to icy conditions. In Imatra, for example, a sanding truck drove ahead of the transport to ensure its safe passage past the town.
