Ten days. 480 km. One shot at the vessel. That was the brief for COLI Shipping & Transport do Brasil’s recent road transport of a Yankee dryer cylinder from Rio do Sul (Brazil) to the Port of Paranagua, where the MV Grande Nigeria was reached just in time. The cylinder left little margin for error on Brazil’s roads; riding at a transport height of 5.95 m, weighing 86.6 tonnes, and measuring nearly 6 metres in every direction.

Multimodal Movement of Heavy-Lift Gas Processing Units for one of the Middle East’s Largest Gas Production Projects Total Movements successfully executed the door-to-port transportation of 6 Gas Processing Units (GPUs) totaling about 12,800cbm, including the heaviest unit weighing 1,400 MT, from the supplier’s facility in India to the Middle East. The project involved deploying specialized axle configurations for cargo pick-up and transportation to the load-out jetty, followed by Roll-On operations onto 2 dedicated Deck Carrier Vessels, transportation via the river-sea route, and Roll-Off operations at the discharge port. Key features included handling ultra-heavy cargo, operating within critical tidal windows, ensuring vessel stability for the 1,400 MT unit, and securing cargo for safe sea transit. To overcome these challenges, Total Movements’s team implemented customized axle configurations, detailed vessel load distribution analysis, precise tidal planning, and MWS-approved sea fastening calculations.

Over the coming 2-3 years, Tiel Logistics will continue investing heavily in the future of their fleet, infrastructure, and maritime operations. Tiel’s trailer fleet has recently been expanded with several new trailers. This will help modernize their equipment and prepare for future international transport requirements. The fleet will grow even further with two Broshuis 4-axle steering semi low loaders. At the same time, Tiel has finalized a major expansion of their operational grounds, growing from 21,389 m to more than 70,000 m of owned property, plus additional quay-side land. These developments create new opportunities for logistics optimization, maritime activities, and future growth. Tiel Logistics plans to develop a new water-bound industrial hall equipped with overhead cranes capable of lifting up to 200 tons, contributing to additional maritime employment and strengthening the region’s industrial capabilities.
