ATLAS HEAVY Transport executed a complex international heavy cargo operation, moving five tanks each weighing 396,832 lbs (~180t) from Asia to Florida. The project involved multimodal logistics, including specialized ocean freight via breakbulk vessel. The cargo was then transferred using the ships cranes onto ATLAS HEAVY’S own 16-line Goldhofer SL. At the site it was self-unloaded allowing ATLAS HEAVY’S Goldhofer PST-E’s to secure underneath the vessel and perform the setting operation to their permanent pedestals.

The team mobilized 13 trucks to move nearly 200 packages from Taiyuan to their Qingdao warehouse within four days. FORMAG transported two hybrid gas-insulated switchgear units from Shanghai to Gdansk in 2×40’ open-top containers. Following port discharge, the cargo was trucked onward to Ukraine using specialized flatbed and lowbed trailers, required due to the cargo’s 3.2-meter height making standard equipment unsuitable.

TIBA handled the transport of a 250-tonne Manitowoc crane, made up of 29 pieces, from Puerto Angamos in Chile to a vessel anchored off the coast of Urabá, Antioquia, with final delivery in Turbo, Colombia. It was a particularly complex and highly specialized operation, planned in detail and executed with real precision.

The operation involved:

• Pick-up of the equipment from the yard in Antofagasta and transfer to an authorised depot
• Professional high-pressure cleaning
• Export customs clearance and documentation management
• Loading at Puerto Angamos using terminal and vessel cranes
• Around 15 days of sea transit
• Open-water discharge directly onto a hopper barge

Overall, this was a rare and technically demanding move, completed successfully and under close control at every stage.

Star Shipping’s heavy-lift team received an auto-transformer at Karachi Port on multi axle hydraulic 12-XL lines trailer and delivered the same to the Surjani Town Grid Station, Karachi through the busiest urban districts of Karachi wherein the usual traffic rush & abundance of electric wires prove to be the toughest challenge for such an OOG shipment movement.

Star Shipping’s team successfully delivered the transformer main body to its destination (Surjani Grid) and also performed the manual unloading of the transformer to its foundation via rigging & skidding method ensuring the fulfillment of the stringent HSE requirement of the client at Power Grid Station.
