Star Shipping Pakistan Handled Discharging onto Hydraulic Trailer via Heavy Duty Crawler Cranes at Karachi Port

Star Shipping Pakistan Handled Discharging onto Hydraulic Trailer via Heavy Duty Crawler Cranes at Karachi Port

Star Shipping’s heavy-lift team successfully handled the discharging operations of an abnormal size cargo package at Karachi Port, weighing 60+ mt with extra-ordinary length beyond 24meters long. The said package arrived via carrier vessel “Bohwa Amoy” on January 12, 2026, hence the handling cranes remained available in assembled position besides the nominated cargo berth prior to the arrival of the cargo to avoid any project delay. Upon the arrival of the vessel and grant of cargo discharge permission of both cranes capacities 150+ mt each performed the cargo discharging task efficiently and directly delivered the freight
on trailer as required.

Six Overseas Completed a Complex Steel Discharge at Leixões Using Shore Cranes

Six Overseas Completed a Complex Steel Discharge at Leixões Using Shore Cranes

The operation was executed under a controlled plan with clear alignment across vessel, terminal and stevedoring teams, prioritising safety, stability of lifts and uninterrupted operational flow.

The discharge was carried out using shore cranes with spreader beams and slings, favouring vertical lifts and stable handling to minimise movement and protect the cargo throughout the lifting sequence. During the voyage, periods of strong winds required an additional safety measure: the ship’s crew removed outer plastic sheets from the tops and sides of the units to avoid hazards on deck and prevent plastic loss to the marine environment. The removed material was collected and stowed in the hold, maintaining a clean and controlled working area.

As part of operational close-out, a limited verification on selected units confirmed that the cargo remained protected by five tightly applied plastic layers and that, in the inspected areas, there was no evidence of water or humidity ingress. Additional openings were intentionally avoided to prevent unnecessary exposure after arrival and to reduce the risk of post-handling corrosion marks.
